FOOD SAFETY LEVEL 2


The Food Safety Level 2 Certificate of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health is a first level qualification in food hygiene, one that is nationally recognised in all sectors of the food industry.

The Essential Food Hygiene Certificate is designed to give food handlers essential knowledge and understanding of good food hygiene practices.

The course takes a minimum of six hours. The assessment takes either the form of multi-choice tick box or an oral assessment.

The course covers a number of key areas including:

• What is food hygiene?
• Food and disease
• How food is contaminated
• Preventing food poisoning
• Cleaning the workplace
• Personal hygiene
• Food storage
• Safe food preparation
• Design of food premises
• Waste and pest control
